Can someone possibly help me answer this question? Which of the following combination of elementary substances may react to form a chemical compound made up of molecules? - C(s) and Br2(I) -I2(s) and Mg(s) -O2(g) and Na(s) - All of them react to produce compounds made up of molecules

C(s) + 2Br₂(l) ==> CBr₄(s).

 

I₂₍s) + Mg(s) ==> MgI₂(s) (if the solid I₂ vaporizes to form a gas)

 

O₂(g) + 4Na(s) ==> 2Na₂O

 

All reactions form chemical compounds, but none of them are made up of molecules. The products (CBr₄, MgI₂ and Na₂O) are made up of atoms, not molecules.  Maybe the question meant to ask if the products are molecules (not composed of molecules), and then the answer would be all of them are molecules.  So, for example, in the first case, you have CBr4 (carbon tetrabromide; tetrabromomethane) which is a molecule made up of 1 carbon atom and 4 bromine atoms).
