Marshall, first of all,
7y=35+4x does not equal 4x+7y=35, it equals 7y - 4x = 35
Likewise with 30x=14y+84, it is not equal to 30x+14y=84, it equals 30x - 14y = 84
Looking at both these equations, you can see that it is possible to solve this system by the following:
Multiply 7y - 4x = 35 by 2: 14y -8x = 70
Now, add 30x - 14y = 84 to 14y -8x = 70
30x - 8x = 154
22x = 154
x = 7
Can you take it from here?
