x = number of items produced
C(x) = cost of producing x items
The average cost per item is the total cost divided by the number of items:
Average Cost per Item = C(x)/x = (500+40x)/x = (500/x) + 40
To find the cost per item for 70 items, just plug in x = 70 and compute the answer.
