The length of a rectangle is 1 foot longer than twice the width. The area of the rectangle is 15 sq. feet. Find the length and width of the rectangle.

l x w = A of a rectangle

 

l = 2w + 1

 

15 = (2w + 1)w

 

Can you solve for w?  Remember, only the positive answer is correct.
