When a system has no solution, it is called inconsistent.
Solve the system of equations by trying to eliminate one of the variables to see if there is one solution, no solution or
infinite solutions (if the lines from these two equations are the same line
multiply the first equation by -2
-4x - 6y = -22
then add it to the second equation
5x + 6y = 14
you get : x = -8
Now plug this back into either equation : try the first
2(-8) + 3y = 11
-16 +3y = 11
3y = 27
y = 9
Because there is one unique solution, these two lines intersect at one point. They are consistent.
This system is independent because the graphs of the equations produce two different lines. If the equations produce
the same line, they're dependent.
If they had been the same line, solving them for one variable would have produced an equation that is always true like 0 = 0.
So again, (D) they are consistent and independent.
