A triangle has vertices  A ( -3 , 1 ) , B ( 2 , 2 ) , and  C ( 5 , -5 ) . If  CD  represents the median of the triangle, find the length of  CD .

By definition, the median of a side of a triangle goes to the midpoint of the opposite side, so find midpoint D of side AB, using the two midpoint formulae. Then use the distance formula to find length of CD.
