How does hydrochloric acid and Ethanoic acid react similarly or in the same way?

They are both acids so they react similarly in that they both donate a proton. Hydrochloric acid, HCl, is a strong acid and dissociates completely. Ethanoic acid (acetic acid), CH3COOH, is a weak acid and only dissociates partially. But they both do donate a proton.
