21 Minus 14 divided by 7 plus 11 minus 4

Just a simple question I'm not really able to answer, due to the fact I have not fully learned PEMDAS.

Assuming no parentheses in the original problem, we have

21 - 14 / 7 + 11 -4

 

Division comes before addition and subtraction, so let's do 14 / 7 =2 first, yielding:

21 - 2 + 11 - 4

 

Even though it is written PEMDAS, which would seem to imply addition comes before subtraction,

you actually do whichever comes first, from left to right.

 

So, we get the following

19 + 11 -4

= 30 - 4

= 26.
