Find the surface area of a triangular prism.

A triangular prism is 9.3 yards long and has a triangular face with a base of 6 yards and a height of 4 yards. The other two sides of the triangle are each 5 yards. What is the surface area of the triangular prism?

There are 2 triangular faces each of which has area .5 * 4 * 6 = 12

  so total area of 24

 

there are 3 rectangular faces each of which has length 9.3 and height 5 i.e. area of 46.5

  so total area of 139.5

 

surface area = 24 + 139.5 = 163.5
