1.  Draw a ray beginning at P (visually exceeding the length of segment AB)

2.  Place the sharp metal point of a compass at A, and open it such that the other part (a pencil point) falls on point B, i.e. set the compass radius to the exact length AB

3.  Put said compass metal point at P and strike an arc (of radius AB) that intersects the earlier ray emanating from P.

4.  Label that intersection point C; PC = AB.
