log_x2 = 1/2.  Convert this to exponential form: x^1/2 = 2, square both sides:  (x^1/2)² = 2².

 

This means that x = 2², or x = 4.

 

Check:  log₄2 = 1/2,  4^1/2 = √4 = 2.
