If you recall, csc(x) = 1/sin(x). Since the range of sin(x) is -1 to 1, we can find the range of csc(x) = 1/sin(x) by taking 1/y for all y in [-1, 1]. This makes the range of csc(x) to be the union of (-infinity, -1] and [1, infinity).
