Tom has £200 to spend on a party he is organising. He spends 1/4 on food, 3/8 on drinks and 2/10 on party decorations. How much money does he have left to spend on a present?

1/4 + 3/8 + 2/10 = 

10/40 + 15/40 + 8/40 =

33/40

 

He spent 33/40 so he has 7/40 of 200 left.

 

(7/40)(200) = 35 left to spend on a present
