Rotate 270 degrees counterclockwise

Rotate the point (3,5) 270 degrees counterclockwise. Then give the coordinates.

Begin in first quadrant at (3,5)

First 90 deg ccw rotation yields (-5,3)  because x & y are interchanged and in Quadrant II the resulting x coordinates must be negative.

Second 90 ccw rotation yields (-3,-5) because x & y are interchanged and in Quadrant III both coordinates will be negative.

Last 90 ccw rotation yields (5,-3) because x & y are interchanged in in Quadrant IV the y coordinate will be negative.

 

The same result can be attained by rotating clockwise 90 degrees; x & y values are interchanged and resulting value of y coordinate will be negative: (5,-3)
