Currently have a 87% in my class. However, my final is worth 10%, I was wondering if I failed the final, would I still pass the course ?

If I remember, a failure is less than a 60%.
So, if you have a failing grade (or on the border) of a 60%, your final grade is calculated below:
FG = (0.9)(0.87) + (0.1)(0.60)
FG = 0.783 + 0.06 = 0.843 = 84%
In other words, you would really have to bomb the test to fail. If you don't take the test at all and get a zero, you still pass with a C (78.3%).
FG = (0.9)(0.87) + (0.1)(0.60)
FG = 0.783 + 0.06 = 0.843 = 84%
In other words, you would really have to bomb the test to fail. If you don't take the test at all and get a zero, you still pass with a C (78.3%).
