i have made a calculation which is wrong i would like to know if anyone can figure out where i have gone wrong below is the calculation:

30% of £268 = £80.40
£268 - £80.40 = £187.6
 
some how I got the final answer of £167.80

hi Philip,
 
this was at work I was supposed to charge someone for 30% off £268 but somehow I ended up charging them £167.80 so think you might be right about switching the 8 and 6

James, if you want to skip a step, when you take off 30%, you're left with 70%.
 
0.7(268) = 187.6
 
That wouldn't have saved you from switching numbers, but there ya go.
