A local clothing company is getting ready for the Holiday shopping season. Shirts require one yard of fabric and pajamas require two yards of fabric. In one day the most fabric that can be used is 1,000 yards. The company has to make at least 200 pajamas. Identify graphically the number of shirts and the number of pajamas that could be made. List two possible solutions for this problem.

If the number of shirts is x and the number of pajamas is y, then you can set up the following inequalities:

1x + 2y < 1000 (the amount of fabric)

and y >= 200.

If you graph those properly, the area where both shaded sides intersect will be your possible solutions.
