The area of the rectangular piece of plywood (shaded region) is 10.2 m. Find the angle of elevation.

The small side of the triangle the opposite side has the length of 0.8 m. For the adjacent side it has the length of 2 m.

It looks like a ramp if you draw it out.

If I draw a triangle that looks like a ramp and I put 0.8 on the opposite side

And I put 2 on the bottom side...the adjacent side

then the area would be

1/2*b*h

1/2*2*.8=.8

so .8 would be the area

but it said in the problem that the area was 10.2

 

hmmm. Something wrong with that drawing.

 

are there more to the directions that I am missing?
