Calculus will seem easy if you have the right tutor!
In general, I would say just go ahead to find the real zeros of f(x).
There's no guarantee that they will all fit between two consecutive integers.
It may be so in this case, but that's usually not the case, and the problem ought not to be stated in that 'overly deterministic' way.
Frankly, if I had a graphing calculator, I would simply graph this and look for the x-intercepts (zeros) and go from there.
