5x + 2y = 12
2y = -5x + 12
y = (-5/2)x + 6 The slope of this line is -5/2. Parallel lines have equal slopes. Use the Point-Slope Form of the equation of a line.
y - y1 = m(x - x1)
y - 4 = (-5/2)(x + 2)
y - 4 = (-5/2)x - 5
y = (-5/2)x - 1
