y = 2x + 3 The slope of this line is 2. Since parallel lines have the same slope, the new line will also have a slope of 2. You now have a point (5,5) and a slope; so, use the Point-Slope form for the equation of a line.

y - 5 = 2(x - 5)
y - 5 = 2x - 10
y = 2x - 5
