Okay...I'm going to give you a hint to answer this question. Your skill...job is to learn how to use these kinds of skills so you will be able to answer these kind of word problems.
How to answer these kind of problems is label...identify 3 things: the things you know, the things you don't know AND what the problem is asking you to solve.
So here we go: things you know...Janet learns 2 pieces each week. Janet has 11 weeks to learn the pieces.
In this case, the things you don't know is the same as what you are trying to solve...the TOTAL number of pieces after the 11 weeks of lessons.
so...think of it this way...after one week she learns 2 pieces. The next week 2 more. So...how many pieces does that make...I know you will say 4...Right?? You could count each week up to 11 weeks...Right? But that would take a lot of time to do. Think of another way which you could accomplish the same result without counting each week. I am sure you know.
Try to answer this...if you still have trouble contact me on Wyzant.
