Hi Kay from Charlotte...hope you had a great day at school. Ooooo....Fractions....everyone's favorite...Right?! Not!!!
Anyway...it can sometimes be a challenge to answer these kinds of questions.
Well...you could always get a 1/3 cup and see how many 2/3 cups of water it takes to fill up 5 1/2 cups. But I don't think you can do that during class and especially during a test.
So...how does one answer these kind of fraction problems?
Well...Kay...I'll give you a hint...and give you direction to answering this problem, but I won't give you the answer. Once you learn the technique on how to answer them, you will be a pro and you'll probably gonna be asked by other on how to answer them.
Okay...here's the hint...let's begin by a question of how many groups of 4 goes into a total of 28. We would divide...Right?
28 ÷ 4 Right? then we would know our answer would be 7!
So your problem asks how many 2/3 cups are in 5 1/2 cup...so we got to do what?
Does KCF...ring a bell?
