a + 1 = b, b > a
Let a = 1
a+ 1 = 1 + 1 = 2 = b
2 > 1
Let a = -1
a + 1 = -1 + 1 = 0 = b
0 > -1
It is not possible to create a pair of values
for a, b where this is not true. Since a + 1 = b,
then b is always one unit to the right of a on a
number line. By basic definition of a number
line, the farther to the right a number is the
greater its value.
