Let n = # nickels
0.1d + 0.05n = 6.75 equation 1
d = 4n equation 2
substitute 4n in place of d in 1st equation.
0.1(4n) + 0.05n = 6.75
Let's clear the decimals... multiply through by 100
10(4n) + 5n = 675
45n = 675
n = 15 nickels .... ($0.75)
d = 4n = 60 dimes .... ($6.00)
