 Two planes leave an airport the same time and travel in opposite directions one player averages 300 mph another plane averages 600 mph when will they be 2700 miles apart

time = distance / (relative speed)

 

t = d/v

 

When moving in opposite directions, the relative speed is the sum of the speeds.

 

v = (300 + 600) mph = 900 mph

 

d = 2700 miles

 

t = d/v = 2700/900 hours = 3 hours

 

They are 2700 miles apart 3 hours after departure.
