Try this formula that books and teachers don't share:

(y-y₁)/(x-x₁) = (y₂-y₁)/(x₂-x₁)

(y-4)/(x-5) = (5-4)/(3-5) = -1/2    Cross multiply.

2(y-4) = -1(x-5)

2y-8 = -x+5

2y = -x+5+8

2y = -x + 13

y = (-1/2)x + 6 1/2
