Your equations are:
10x + 4y = 10.70
(Since each kg of tomatoes costs $x, 10kg of tomatoes costs $10x and each kg of onions costs $y, 4 kg of onions costs $y; the problem says that they need to add up to $10.70)
Using similar logic for Jao's purchase:
8x + 6y = $10.10
Hope this helps!

could i ask you if this is the correct answer fully?
10x+4y=10.70
8x+6y=10.10
8(10x+4y=10.70)
10(8x+6y=10.10)
80x+32y=85.6
-
80x+60y=101
28y=15.4
y=15.4 / 28
y=0.55
Substitue y=0.55
10x+4y=10.70
10x+4(0.55)=10.70
10x+22=10.70
10x=10.70-22
x=8.5 / 10
x=0.85
x=0.85
y=0.55
