If I have 4 catagories to vote from and 7 people have voted, there are 29% in 2 categories and 49% in one and 0% in the other, how many people voted for each

**First of all, the percent of all categories should add to 100% of the people. (29% + 29% + 49% + 0% = 107%) So something seems to be off with this question. You'll have to round to the nearest whole person.

 

The first two categories, x people voted out of 7 people total to make 29% of the vote.

 

(x/7)* 100% = 29%

 

x/7 = 29/100

 

x/7 = 0.29

 

x = 7*0.29

 

x = 2.03

 

* Since we're talking about people, round to the nearest whole person. x = 2 people

 

The other category, "y" people voted out of 7 people total to make 49% of the vote.

 

(y/7)*100 = 49

 

y/7 = 49/100
