The distance from vertex to focus is p=4; focus is 4 units above the stated vertex so the parabola opens upwardly and thus p= positive 4 rather than negative 4. Vertex is, of course, (h,k)
equation that applies to this case is 4p(x-h) = (y-k)2
all you have to do is substitute the appropriate values.
