Graphing a hyperbola

Suppose the hyperbola x2/a2 - y2/1 = 1 has a large value for a. Describe how the graph would appear.

The graph would have a horizontal transverse axis, meaning it would open left and right. This distance between the center and the vertices is represented by "a". So, the larger "a" becomes, the farther the vertices are from the center.
