-20 < 3x + 1 < 10
-21 < 3x < 9         subtract 1 from all parts
-7 < x < 3            divide all parts by 3

Ohhhh thank you so so so mucchhh. Can you help me with this problem it says The quotient of a number x decreased by 4 and 7 is les s than or equal to 2 or greater than or equal to 8. What are the possible solutions of x?

A quotient is the result of division
(x - 4) / 7 ≤ 2
or
(x - 4) / 7 ≥ 8
 
x - 4 ≤ 14
x - 4 ≥ 56      multiply both sides by 7
 
x ≤ 18
x ≥ 60         add 4 to both sides
