Two lines are Perpendicular if they meet at a right angle (90°).
How do you know if two lines are perpendicular?
When you multiply their slopes, you get -1
When you multiply their slopes, you get -1
These two lines are perpendicular:
Line y = 2x + 1
Slope = 2
Line y = -0.5x + 4
Slope = -0.5
Multiple the slopes and you will get a negative 1.
When you enter these equations on a graphing calc. or draw them on paper you will see the 90 degree angle
