Hi Nikki, let a represent the adults and c represent the children.
Equation 1, total number of adults and children:
a + c = 132
Equation 2, total cost of tickets:
10a + 6c = 928
Solve equation 1 for a:
a + c = 132
a = 132 - c
Substitute for a in equation 2:
10 * (132 - c) + 6c = 928
1320 - 10c + 6c = 928
Combine terms:
4c = 392
c = 98
Substitute for c in equation 1 to find the number of adult tickets:
a + 98 = 132
a = 34
The zoo sold 34 adult tickets and 98 child tickets.
