Therefore x+y = 29 ...Eq (1)

Solve:
x + y=29 , y=29-x
3x+y=47 , y = 47-3x
set y=y, 29-x=47-3x, add 3x and subtract 29 from both sides
29-29+3x-x = 47-3x+3x-29, 2x=18, x=9 , and y=29-9=20
the solution is:
no of nutritious bars x = 9, and no of vitamin candy bars is y = 20
check your solution x + y=9+20=29
3x+y = 3(9)+20=27+20=47 checks
