Hi Matt,
A square is a parallelogram with four congruent sides and four congruent angles.
On the other hand, a kite is a quadrilateral with two distinct pairs of congruent sides. So, a kite is not a parallelogram though all parallelograms are also quadrilaterals.
I would recommend that you review quadrilaterals and parallelograms if the above do not make sense.
