xy = 18

x + y = 9

x = 9 - y

y(9-y) = 18

-y^2 + 9y - 18 = 0

y^2 - 9y + 18 = 0

(y - 6)(y - 3) = 0

if y = 6, x = 3

if y = 3, x = 6

The dimensions are 3 and 6 feet.
