let y = pieces at $9.50 - $2.00 = $7.50

 

(1) x + y = 90 pcs

(2) (x)($9.50) + (y)($7.50) = $711

 

x = 90-y

(90-y)($9.50) + $7.50y = $711

855 - 9.50y + 7.50y = 711

-2.00y = -144

y = 72 pcs

x = 90 - 72 = 18 pcs

 

They sold 18 pieces at the original price, and they sold 72 pieces at the reduced price.
