If you want to calculate the volume of a pyramid, you multiply the area of the base by the volume and also by another factor of one third.
So you tell me: How does what you get with the shortened base compare to what you get with the original base?

I need to know that you are still trying to do the work yourself.
I have given you an awfully big hint. Is there part of my answer you still don't understand?
To calculate the area of a square, (the base) you multiply the side length by itself.
