So given that A is 25,

 

25 = a²

 

To find a, we'd find the √25

 

a = 5

A square, being a figure with 4 equal sides, and area being the product of two adjacent sides, a square with area of 25 cm^2 must have sides of 5 cm each: 

i.e. square root of 25 is 5.
