Let C = Chelsea's money
Let B = Brian's money
(3/4)C = (5/6)B {equation 1}
C = B + 24 {equation 2}
In equation 1 replace C with B+24
(3/4)(B+24) = (5/6)B
(3/4)B + 18 = (5/6)B
(5/6)B - (3/4)B = 18
(10/12)B - (9/12)B = 18
(1/12)B = 18
B = 18(12)
B = $216
C = B + 24 = $240
Together they have $456
