Quilt squares are cut on the diagonal to form triangular quilt pieces. The hypotenuse of the resulting triangles is 3 inches long. What is the side length of each piece?

I tried to do the Pythogorean theroem but there isn't enough information to use that so I'm not sure what to use to solve this.

The triangular pieces will be isosceles right triangles, so each leg measures 3/√2 inches.

 

None of the answers a through d is even remotely useful.
