You have on sheet of nice cardboard material that is 70 cm X 90 cm available. What is the maximum number of postcards that you can make?

Sara, let's start with 3 x 4. That's 12 cm², too small. We can't just double the area and keep the ratio. Tooooo bad!

 

What about 4.2 x 5.6? That's a 3 to 4 ratio, and 4.2 x 5.6 = 23.52, more than 20.

 

70 x 90 = 6300

 

6300/23.52 = 267.9

 

We can't round up, because that uses more paper than we have, so our answer is 267.
