Samantha owns fifty shares, Lauren owns seventy shares, and Jerry owns thirty shares, what is the value in dollars of Lauren's stock?

Samantha's share = S

Lauren's share = L

Jerry's share = J

Value of Lauren's share = V

 

Then we get S = 50, L = 70, and J = 30.

 

Since there is no dollar value given, let's assume that 1 share = 50 dollars.

 

Then the value of Lauren's share will be the following:

V = 50(L) = 50(70) = 3500 dollars.

 

If we set the variable of 1 share in dollar amount to D, then:

V = LD
