Do you mean quartile 2 and quartile 3?
Quartile 2 is the median. Therefore in any boxplot regardless if it is modified,
if q2 = q3≠q1 then the box part will look like one solid box. Quartile 3 is the end of the right side of the box. Quartile 2, the median, is normally drawn somewhere between the left side of the box q1 and right side q3. This makes the box looking like it has 2 parts. However, if q2=q3 it will look like q2 was mistakenly forgotten because it would be drawn at the exact placement as q3.
