If Bradley does a job in 14 hours and Mikayla does a job in 35 hours, how long will it take them to do the job together?

The easy way to solve this problem (versus the hard way) is to use the following formula:

 

a x b

------

a + b

 

where a is the hours worked for the first person and b is the hours worked for the second person

 

14 x 35        490

---------  =  ------- = 10

14 + 35         49

 

Together it will take them 10 hours.
