First, remember that f(x) is the same as y.
So by asking you to find f(x), they want you to find y.
Replace f(x) with y in the equation to make it easier to understand.
y = 3 |2x - 5|
Now, we know x = 1, so substitute 1 for x in the equation
y = 3 |2(1) - 5|
Now solve for y
y = 3 |2 - 5|
y = 3 |-3|
y = 3 (3)
y = 9
Does this make sense? I live in Knoxville. I would be glad to tutor you in person if you like. Please contact me and let me know your schedule so we can set up a time to meet.
Thanks!
