First, calculate the slope (m): m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1) = (-5 - 9) / (4 - {-3}); -14 / 7 = -2.
Now, the equation can be determined using either of the points: (y - y1) = m (x - x1). (y - {-5}) = -2(x - 4).
y + 5 = -2x + 8, or y = -2x + 3, so the slope is -2 and the y-intercept is 3. (You can use the other point {-3,9} to get the same answer!)
