A² + B² = C² is the Pythagorean Theorem where A and B are the legs and C is the hypotenuse.

 

(15cm)² + (20cm)² = C² after substitution

 

225cm² + 400cm² = C² add

 

625cm²  = C² Take square root of both sides

 

25cm = C which is the hypotenuse.
