Question

What is the mass of an iron bar if its dimensions are 45.0mm by 10.0cm by 0.0400m and iron has a density of 7.20g/cm^3.

 

I got 13.0 grams as the answer. I just need an answer to check my work that I have done. Thank You!

Multiply the density by the volume to get mass.

 

We can write the 3 dimensions as cm: 4.5 cm x 10.0 cm x 4.00 cm

 

V = 4.5 * 10 * 4 cm³ = 180 cm³

 

m = ρV = (7.20 g/cm³) (180 cm³) = 1296 g

 

You could round off to 1300 g.  Did you convert units correctly in your solution?
